Portable Samplers for Marine Applications
HERMetic Sampler GT4 Chem for Marine Applications
Honeywell Tanksystem’s HERMetic Sampler GT4 is a 4-inch portable large volume sampler with a sampling capacity of approximately 1.8 liter. It is ideal for gas tight sampling of liquids that present a fire, health or air pollution hazard and for applications where a large sample volume is required in a single operation.
What Is It?
The HERMetic Sampler GT4 is ideal for sampling of liquids under closed conditions where more than 0.5 liter of liquid is needed. lts gas tight construction avoids any vapor release from the tank and exposure to fumes during operation.
The sampler housing is mounted on top of the HERMetic 4-inch deck valve. Transfer of the liquid from the sampling bottle to a laboratory bottle occurs by opening the transfer valve at the bottom of the sampler. The HERMetic Sampler GT4 is delivered with a zone sampling bottle. Spot, bottom and running bottles are available on request.
How Does It Work?
The HERMetic Sampler GT4 allows easy installation on the deck valve. The sampling height can be read on the graduated tape, while the sampling bottle can be easily removed by opening the top of the sampler housing.
The sampler carries the KEMA 06ATEX0027 (II 1 G c IIB T6) construction safety approval and complies with the European Union’s Directive 94/9 EC. It also complies with a host of regulations, including API (MPMS Chap 17.11).
Technical specifications include:
Tape length : 30 m/ 100 ft
On request : 50 m tape length
Capacity of sampling bottles : up to 1.8 liter
What Problems Does It Solve?
The HERMetic Sampler GT4 ensures closed gas tight sampling of liquids that pose a fire, health or air pollution hazard. It permits collection of a representative sample of the content inside the tanks for further laboratory analysis. In addition to safer operations, users benefit from lower operation and maintenance costs.
HERMetic Sampler GT4 Chem for Marine Applications
The HERMetic Sampler GTN Chem is dedicated to applications where closed sampling is required, and when the sampled liquid should avoid any contact with the atmosphere in order to maintain its specifications and to avoid contamination.
What Is It?
The HERMetic Sampler GTN Chem is a portable gas tight sampler with liquid transfer under completely closed conditions into a septum-sealed laboratory bottle. This transfer guarantees the integrity of the sample since the liquid never comes into contact with the atmosphere. A closed vapor recovery system dispatches the vapours back into the tank during transfer of the liquid into the sealed laboratory bottle.
The sampler is ideal in the following cases:
- If a representative sample of the content is required
- For clean chemicals or refined products
- If the sample has to avoid any contact with the atmosphere to maintain its specifications
- If no gas release is permitted during sampling operation
- For connection on 2-inch HERMetic compact valves exclusively.
The gas tight construction of the sampler avoids pressure release from the tank and exposure to fumes during operation. The equipment is designed and certified for use in potentially explosive areas. It can be fitted with a specific sampling bottle, allowing zone, spot, running or bottom sampling.
How Does It Work?
HERMetic Sampler GTN Chem allows easy installation on 2-inch vapor control valves with quick connect coupling. The sampling height can be read on the graduated tape and the liquid can be transferred into a septum-sealed laboratory bottle after sampling. It carries the KEMA 06ATEX0027 (II 1 G c IIB T6) Construction Safety Approval and complies with the European Union’s Directive 94/9 EC. In addition, the sampler has been approved by all major classification societies. The unit complies with a host of regulations, including API (MPMS Chap 17.11).
Technical specifications include:
Maximal tank overpressure: 0,3 bar, 4,4 psi
Tape length: 30m, 100ft
Capacity of sampling bottles: ~0,5 l
What Problems Does It Solve?
The HERMetic Sampler GTN Chem ensures safety by preventing exposure to potential fire, health and air pollution hazards. Additionally, it ensures that the sample taken is never altered or contaminated due to contact with the atmosphere. Users benefit from lower operation and maintenance costs.
HERMetic Samplers for Restricted Operations
Honeywell’s HERMetic Samplers A-2 and A-4 are dedicated to applications where restricted sampling is authorized. A restricted system exists when a marine tank vessel allows some vapors from its cargo tanks into the atmosphere under normal operating conditions. The samplers are used for crude oil sampling on tankers and very large crude carriers (VLCCs).
What Is It?
HERMetic Sampler A-2: Its key features include:
- Used for connection on 2-inch HERMetic compact valves
- For applications involving liquids with low or high viscosity
- Ideal for use under open operations
- Easy installation on 2-inch vapor control valves with quick connect coupling
- Sampling height can be measured on the graduated tape
- Sampling bottle can be easily removed and exchanged
- Delivered with a zone sampling bottle—spot, running and bottom sampling bottles are also available on request.
HERMetic Sampler A-4: Key features include:
- Used for large volume sampling of up to 1.8 liters under open operations
- Easy installation on a 4-inch deck valve
- Sampling height can be read on the graduated tape
- Sampling bottle can be easily removed and exchanged
- Delivered with a zone sampling bottle; spot, running and bottom sampling bottles also available.
How Does It Work?
The sampler housing is mounted on top of the HERMetic 2” ball valve or a 4” deck valve, depending on the type of sampler model. The sample is taken through the vertical movement of the sampling bottle inside the liquid. The bottle is linked to a graduated tape. A reading window allows users to monitor the bottle location.
What Problems Does It Solve?
Honeywell’s samplers for restricted operation offer easy installation, low costs and clean operation during sampling. It permits taking a representative sample of the content inside the tank for further analysis in a laboratory.
